Chemtrails? Real or Conspiracy Theory

I am not by any means a conspiracy theorist, I’ve read some and heard some information about people dumping something into the atmosphere yet could find no real discussion that has given me any idea of what exactly is going on. I found this and wanted to send it out I am beginning to believe we are in trouble.
Take a look at this and you decide, it’s long but worth the time.

Ever vigilant!

If you don’t know by now that I am a staunch environmentalist. Not that I am your typical tree hugger, chain myself to the fence type I’m the sort that wants to get information out there for all to see. I do and have walked protest lines when it comes to our blue orb, even been thrown in hotel Graybar on occasion.

Today I watched the PBS series Now hosted by David Brancaccio who interviewed filmmaker Josh Fox about a film he directed and produced on drilling for natural gas in communities across the country. The discussion was about a process called ‘Fracking’ (Hydraulic fracturing). The process uses water and an unbelievable amount of chemicals and trace metals to push the natural gas out of the earth.

I will be honest with the fact that I had, prior to viewing and doing more research, been a proponent of using natural gas to reduce our need on foreign oil. No longer will I advocate for its use. There is only one way to reduce/eliminate our dependence on oil purchased from countries that hate us and that is renewable Solar, Wind and Water. Need or want some visual proof that there is a problem then take a look at this little snippet. I recommend strongly that you view the clips, educate yourself, don’t mess with Mother Earth.

EARTH HOUR 2009, MARCH 28.

Earth Hour began with the goal of “inspiring people to take action on climate change.” Initiated by the World Wildlife Fund Australia and the Sydney Morning Herald, the first Earth Hour took place in Sydney, Australia on March 31, 2007. The goal: get as many people as possible to turn off their lights for an hour, and lower power consumption by 5%.

“On March 31, 2007, 2.2 million people and 2,100 businesses turned off their lights for one hour,” the Earth Hour website proudly proclaims. This marked a reported decrease of 10.2% in Sydney’s energy use in that hour, “…the equivalent of taking 48,000 cars off the road for a year.”1

One might think that doing something as trivial as turning lights off for one hour would have no impact on the environment. Major cities, Chicago included, have reported significant usage reductions during last year’s event. If we all do that one trivial thing we can make a difference.

Earth Hour

Winter migration.

1420 hours, December 4, 2008.

Three very large flocks of migrating cranes flew overhead this date. I had thought it was later than usual so must check previous logs to see for sure. I wish I had a GPS so I could plot the longitude and latitude for all but the area zip code is 60491, Homer Glen, IL

THE CRANES, THE CRANES!!!!!

It has started, at least in my part of the world.  Those magnificent cranes have started to fly overhead on their annual migration south.  Although I did not see them I sure did hear them.  Sounded like a small flock maybe a vanguard either way I will listen and look for the next several days to get my semi-annual fix.

Hitchcock revisited?

A small portion of thousands of black birds

A small portion of thousands of black birds

Just snapped these pix around camp. There were thousands, yes thousands of blackbirds swarming above and around my usually tranquil location. Alfred Hitchcock eat your heart out.

Good news and bad.

A friend whom I have not talked to in all too long called me today wondering why I hadn’t jotted any thoughts here lately.  I was quite flattered in that she read my missives so I just had to put something down, but what?  It dawned on me that I had been planning to comment on how, for the first time in many years, we have no red tailed hawks in the area.  We usually have a nesting pair with one or more offspring.  Not this year.  Also no hummingbirds, bluebirds or owls.  Not sure why they aren’t around and that bothers me.  There is a little good news though.  Several people have said that they had seen a new fawn in the area and today while chatting with my friend I finally saw it – cutest little thing I’ve seen in a long time.  Also, seems that a couple of baby raccoons must have lost their mom – they have been out and about in broad daylight the last couple of days.  Had a baby opossum but haven’t seen it in a while.  I don’t like the changes, hope it gets better.
